In the second quarter of 2009, netbooks accounted for 22.5% of all portable computer shipments worldwide. That is up from 5.6 percent a year ago. (source)

Augmented Reality Tube Finder
Very nice use of the iPhone 3GS’ compass on this navigation app that finds (and points to) tube/metro stations in your vicinity. Seems like the BBC is really roling with the “augmented reality” moniker and you’ll hear it way too many times in this three minute video but don’t let it distract you from an otherwise great example of a portable HUD.

Monday Data: Nintendo Wii Declines
Apple’s iPhone is behind a sharp drop in nintendo’s profits, according to the gaming company.
nintendo said net profit for April to June 2009 was down 61 percent on the same period last year, while sales dropped 40 percent.
Sales of the wii dropped more than half compared to the same period last year to 2.2 million units during the quarter.
